Thriving in Rural Health RuDASA Retreat 2019
Our first ever RuDASA Doctors Retreat is on Saturday, 8 February 2020 in Chintsa, 30km from East London. We are inviting doctors who work in rural care or see patients from rural communities, as well as local clinical mentors and experts, to join us for a CPD accredited event on THRIVING IN RURAL HEALTH, which will look at three aspects important to thriving as a doctor in a rural health setting:
Tools to strengthen resilience in yourself and your colleagues
Simplified approaches to improve and change inefficient systems in the workplace
Practical and legal aspects of healthcare worker reporting (VOICE)
Facilitation will be by Family Physician, Dr Madeleine Muller and the Rural Health Advocacy Project. The workshop will be at a cost of R200 and qualifies for 4 CPD points, of which 2 will be for ethics. It is open to ALL doctors - either already working in rural areas or providing services to hospitals and patients from rural areas. We also hope that you will bring your families , and get to know each other and some of our beautiful local sites. So in the afternoon we will create a social space for outdoors fun and games for the whole family with Tom from Tom's Circus and Games. Games will be inclusive and voluntary, creating a space for doctors and their families to relax and interact.

As this is our first ever event and the venue size means we have limited it to 50 doctors We hope that eventually this can grow into an event that can encompass the larger rural health team. We encourage districts to host their own camps / events where we can interact socially and strengthen the local networks so essential in a rural health setting.
