Note:
The original
vision statement of the Association of Community and Regional Specialists,
the forerunner to RuDASA, read as follows:
The
vision: a high standard of primary and secondary level medical
care delivered in the community by appropriately trained medical
staff.
The means:
- By creating
specialist grade posts with responsibility for the region
- By encouraging
a long term commitment to rural hospital service
- By:
- appropriate
training
- certification
- career
structure and renumeration
- conditions
of service conducive to work in remote areas
- recruiting
- ongoing
education and logistical support
Objectives:
- to be a
voice for the rural specialist by creating a forum through which
the frustration, aspirations of indivicual members can effectively
be brought to the employing authorities,
- to be a
forum for exchange of information and ideas,
- to provide
ongoing CME and logistical information back up for rural hospital
doctors,
- to act as
a pressure group with the relevant bodies for effecting the
neccessary changes to bring about the vision,
- to inform
the community and the media about the situation in rural hospitals,
- to encourage
the appropriate training to under and post graduate doctors.
