options at Bulungula:
Huts
- sharing at R 50.00 per person per night
Camping - at R 30.00 per person per person per night
Please note
that you will have to share with other delegates to the conference!
There are 30
beds at Bulungula. They are available on a first come first served
basis. Please call Dave on 047 577 8900 to make your booking. More
beds may become available subject to negotiations.
There are 18
beds available in two cottages at Xora mouth. Delegates staying
here will have to wake up early, be rowed across the river and will
enjoy a +/- 2km walk along the beach to Bulungula for the conference.
These cottages would be ideal for a larger group of doctors/nurses.
There is ample
camping space available which is situated under milkwood trees on
an idyllic dune overlooking the sea. Campers must be prepared to
be woken up by the sun rising over the sea. Price: R30 per person/night

DELIGHTS:
Catering will
be provided by Benjie Gain from Mcantsi Restaurant in Kidd's Beach.
Please let me know as soon as possible if you have any special requirements.
The cost of tea, lunch and dinner on the 8th August will be included
in the registration fee. Breakfast on the 8th August will be an
additional cost.
Directions
to Bulungula Lodge (4x4's only!):
However
any car will be able to make it to Madwaleni Hospital where parking
is available. The local doctors will transport most people from
Madwaleni to Bulungula, but official transport is available at R30
per person.
Transport direct
from Umtata to Bulungula costs R50 per person and there are only
18 places available. Please book at the same time as you book your
accommodation, call Dave on 047 577 8900.
For those with
4x4s and who fancy testing their vehicles, the drive to Bulungula
can be very exciting! Other vehicles (bakkies/vans) are able to
get to the lodge with this road but they will not be able to leave
the village if it rains as the road becomes impassable for non-4x4
vehicles.
- From Mthatha
take the N2 towards East London, take the Coffee Bay turn-off
(left).
- After 50km
turn right onto a dirt road (Bulungula signposted).
- Turn right
after 17km.
- After 13km
you reach a walled shop, after which you take a right fork after
800m - and another right fork 7 km later.
- Follow the
"Bulungula 4x4" signs.
- At the end
of the road follow the orange painted stones to the Lodge.

travel to Bulungula:
- You can travel
there yourself - you need a 4x4 vehicle!!! (see directions above)
- You can drive
as far as Madwaleni Hospital, leave your vehicle there and be
transported from there (for directions to Madwaleni please contact
Dr. Will Mapham)
- You can book
with Dave from Bulungula to be picked up at the Ultra City in
Mthatha
Please
ensure that you arrive in daylight as it is likely to get lost after
dark
